7th Grade Research Papers Building Skills
April 16, 2026
Our seventh-grade students are tackling a significant academic milestone this month as they work to complete their first major research paper of their junior high career. Centered on Kansas history, this project required students to evaluate various sources, effectively synthesizing critical information while utilizing digital note cards to organize their findings.
A key focus of this unit was developing professional writing habits; students learned to correctly apply MLA formatting and master the complexities of in-text citations and the usually-dreaded works cited page. While the transition from research to a formal paper presented a rather large challenge, our students demonstrated remarkable perseverance and academic integrity. I am incredibly proud of the growth and determination displayed by these young historians as they navigated this challenging process.
Keep working hard! I am so proud of all of you!

*P.S. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Castle, who served as my mentor this year. Your wisdom and guidance have provided me with invaluable lessons that I will carry throughout my career. Thank you for your constant support, laughing at my silly bulletin boards, and for making this such a memorable year. You will be greatly missed!
