Interactive Notebooks for Spanish Class
These workbooks replace traditional textbook and paper homework activities.

Are there newer, more effective ways we may take notes in class? According to some curricular and cognitive experts, students do better in language or social learning environments when they are offered opportunities to write down information using varied formats and showcasing their creative side.
During the 2023--24 school year, students in Señora Hall's Spanish courses will assemble and maintain interactive notebooks. These notebooks are three-ring binders that have divider tabs and will house papers for each chapter, much like a traditional setup for note taking and studying. However, Señora Hall will also issue activity pages for each chapter and students will add those to their notebooks. Within the papers, students will find cultural information, grammar help, and note taking templates (like, Cornell Notes, for example) to help them retain more information than by simply using lined paper to take notes and to study from the book. Students will also have opportunities to add their own creative spin to their interactive notebooks through things like a Spanish invitation they create or a family shield they design. At the end of the year, students will earn a holistic grade for their interactive notebook.
This year will be a new start for some of the ways Señora Hall requires students to take notes on culture, vocabulary, and grammar in her courses. And, interactive notebooks will a unique way for students to showcase their creativity while keeping their useful class information all in one area.
