“BUILD MY FUTURE EVENT”
On March 6, 2024 our school took 23 students to Century II to give them the opportunity to gain knowledge about different industries for future jobs. When we arrived at Century II, we were given a backpack with some gifts from Wichita Area Builders Association (WABA). We were then greeted by a short video on safety and a welcoming introduction by Lily Wu the Mayor of Wichita Kansas. After the introduction, students were able to gain a lot of knowledge from interacting verbally with industries as well as physically gain knowledge by doing things like virtual welding and laying tile on walls and flooring. We left the event with lots of brochures, from different industries professionals and a whole lot of knowledge from the hands-on teaching activities. Our Eureka High student will plan on attending another event similar to this in the fall. Students left this event with more knowledge, opportunities, and skills required to be in an industrial career.
