Trackster's Continue Assault on Records, Twelve Qualify For State

Bill Pitko

May 23, 2025

Twelve Athletes punched their ticket to next Friday/Saturdays state track meet in Wichita, held Cessna Stadium. State Schedule

The 2025 track team has a lot to brag about and we are going to brag on them a lot as this quiet group just continues to go about their business in a non assuming way. I think we can say the quiet part out loud now. Jr's Rose Buck and Britta Mongeau will go down as the greatest tandem of distance runners to walk/run the halls of EHS. These two made a splash as freshman and the ripples have just gotten bigger the last two years. The 2A Regional was held yesterday in Eureka and Buck was part of 3 school records. She started off the day breaking her own record in the 1600m with a winning time of 5:18.63. She then broke Tornado great Ezzy Ibarra's 2006 record of 2:22.78 in the 800m with a winning time of 2:20.39. She capped off her night anchoring a new school record in the 4x400 with a split of 61.0 and winning time 4:16.21. The old record of 4:17.80 set in 2009 was held by Harrington-Vinson-Pitko-Schmidt.

Junior Britta Mongeau also had an stellar day setting 2 PR's and part of a new school record. Britta sets #2 all-time in the 1600m with her 2nd place finish with a time 5:28.05. She also set a PR in the 800m with a time of 2:26.66. That time lands her 3rd time on the Top-12 list. Leading off the 4x400 with a split of 63 and giving the Tornadoes a huge lead, she also is part of a new school record in the 4x400.

Sr. Olivia Valentine said not fast girls, I got something going on over in the sprints. Olivia won the 100m in a time of 12.95 and sets #5 all-time w/ a season best of 12.86. She was also part of the 2nd place 4x100 in a time of 51.84. They slide into #5 all-time with that time. Olivia also was also part of the recording breaking 4x400 with a split of 64.

Olivia Valentine-Sr.                    Brooklyn Ogden-Jr.

Jr. Brooklyn Ogden made some noise in the 100m as well, placing 2nd with a time of 13.00 and sits #3 all-time with a season best of 12.82. She was also part of the 2nd place 4x100.

Also punching their ticket and rounding out the 4x100 is leadoff Sr. Kimber Ptacek and So. Maela Neill. Jr. Lydia Mason ran a great leg on the 4x400 and sits a top the Top-12 list with her teammates. Attached you will find the complete results for yesterdays Regional. Regional Results
