June 01, 2025

The 2025 State Track Meet took place this past Friday/Saturday in Wichita and the boys team was able to accomplish something not done since 1952. A boys track team placing in the Top-8 at the state track meet. The 1952 team placed 2nd, the 2025 garnered 6th. A 73 year drought was broken on the backs of a handful of sprinters, led by Jr's Peyton Hare, T.J. Mills, Sr's Kalim Mouer and Laken Valentine

Boys Team Scores: Class-2A
1. Central Heights-78
2. Moundridge-73
3. Medicine Lodge-39
4. Phillipsburg-36
4. Berean Academy-36
6. Eureka-30

We can now make the argument that Jr. Peyton Hare is one of the best sprinters to cast his shadow at EHS. His performance and records broken this year place him at the top of the class. Peyton placed in both the 200, 400, and was part of the 2nd place 4x100 that just got nipped at the line. Bennington won with at time of 43.58, Eureka was 2nd with 43.59.  He now stands atop of both the 200 and 400 at EHS. Here is a list of performances this weekend.

Peyton Hare

200- Prelims 22.60, Finals 22.46 4th place. School record holder with time of 21.99
400- Prelims 50.08, Finals 49.31 2nd place. Set new school record breaking DeAllen Nelson's record of 49.47 set in 2016.
4x100- Prelims 44.02, Finals 43.59 2nd place. Tied school record set in 2023 with time of 43.59. Grabast, Mills, Mouer, Spoonts were part of 2023 team.

Jr. T.J. Mills also had an outstanding weekend placing in 3 events. T.J. was defending 200M champ in Class-2A and took most of all spring recovering from an injury, don't believe he was completely 100% but represented the Tornadoes very well this weekend. T.J.'s stats for the weekend.

100- Prelims 11.20, Finals 11.14 4th, sits #5 All-Time at EHS w/ PR of 10.94
200- Prelims 22.81, Finals 22.66 5th, sits  #5 All-Time w/ PR of 22.52
4x100- Prelims 44.02, Finals 43.59 2nd.

The other half of the 2nd place 4x100 is anchor Sr. Kalim Mouer and lead off Laken Valentine. Kalim also battled a hamstring injury for a good portion of the year but was able to come back just in time. Laken has been a great leader and rock at the lead off. All four of these guys represent what can happen if you have some talent, work hard and commit to the weight room. You aren't able to compete at the highest level in multiple events unless you are strong. No coach ever said, "Hey my kids are too strong" EVER!!!

Also rounding out the boys is Jace Hardenbrook in the disc. Jace threw 125-9 to place 14th.
