Busy Times in 4th Grade

December 09, 2025

Marshall has been busy, full of activities, with endless learning opportunities. 4th grade has been working hard on phonics. Here recently, we have had multiple spelling patterns of OR, AR, IR, and now moving on to the double OO as in ooze. Students work on their desk to break apart the words. Then, they switch with a classmate to check their work and spelling. Finally, they get to go up front and put their words in the correct column.

We have had a couple presenters and visitors. A 4C student shared with us her success in 4H. She did a wonderful job presenting and showing her leadership. 4C has also had a couple visitors come in and read a holiday book to them and still more to come in and share.

During reading class 4C has been reading Kickoff! 4A has been reading Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. Students get to read in groups, have discussions, and complete comprehension assignments.

We finished science a couple of weeks back. Students were problem solving in groups to figure out how to make marbles and paper balls fly over a ramp. They also got to make two different types of roller coasters. One was made with rubber bands, clips, and paper. The second roller coaster was made with pipe foam installations, tape, marbles, and paper cups. We have started a new unit in social studies. Students are learning about all five regions and will get tested on each region after it gets covered.
