EHS Cheer Makes History With 3rd Place At State Game Day

December 03, 2024

Eureka High School Cheer takes 2A-3rd place at State Game Day.  Placing at KSHSAA Game Day is a first for the program.

Preliminaries for Game Day consists of scores from: Band Chant, Crowd Leading, and Fight Song.

For Finals, the top six teams start back at zero and take the mat again.  Finals for Game Day is based on the combined scores from: Band Chant, Situational(new during Finals), Crowd Leading and Fight Song.  Penalties will be factored in the scores each time.  Eureka competed each portion clean thus hitting zero in automatic deductions and penalties.  Eureka also had a perfect score for the Situational portion.  6 teams break into finals  based on their preliminary scores.  2A had 19 teams competing in preliminaries.  1st place went to Oskaloosa, 2nd place went to Cair Paravil Latin, 3rd place Eureka, 4th place Plainville, 5th place Lyndon, and 6th place to Sedgwick.

"Our focus as a team this year has been to Set the Standard.  The team definitely accomplished this by trusting the process.  For our seniors this was  fantastic closure to the fall season, and for our younger girls this is just the beginning.  I personally view this as a trophy for the entire Eureka community.  The team appreciates the support from our Tiny Tornadoes mirroring the cheerleaders each game, to our cheer families, friends, Eureka Schools, Eureka Booster Club, EJSHS band, EJSHS students, EJSHS athletes, local businesses and Super Fans helping to make this possible.   A win for our team is a win for Eureka. We definitely plan to take state on again next year.  2A is a very competitive class, that will be adding the current 3A champs-Rossville next year due to class size changes.  It's going to be a battle which we look forward to." says Coach Anna Noble.

Team members making history were:  Seniors-Olivia Valentine, Charlotte Pfister, Cheyenne Gardner, Juniors-Ava Noble, Miley Baumgartel, Taryn Burk, Addison Westerman, Sophomores-Lizzy Foth, Sara Endress, Kimber Olsen, Freshman-Lylly Stapleford and Monica Sanchez.
