Read and Romp Fall 2023
November 16, 2023
Read and Romp is a once a year integrated P.E. and reading activity for students in grades K-2nd. The focus of our celebration this year was fables. During Read and Romp, the students rotated to 9 different stations where they listened to a fable, discussed the moral of the fable, and participated in an activity related to the fable. The stations were staffed by volunteers which included parents, grandparents and Marshall Elementary paras. During this season of thankfulness, we are very grateful for our wonderful volunteers: Virginia, Larissa, Sarah, Lindy, Beth, Jimi, Mica, Tiffany, Gretchen, LeAnne, Ronica, Ashley, Sheena, Beth, Jen, Ammie, Diana, Nicola and Brianne.
Some of the favorite activities of the students were “The Lion and the Mouse” parachute, “The Country Mouse and the City Mouse” mouse trap game, “The Hare and the Tortoise” relay, “The Donkey in the Lion’s Skin” lion’s den game, and “The Contest Between the Sun and the Wind” hot potato game.
In addition to our wonderful station volunteers, this event is only possible with the help of several others as well. The kindergarten, 1st , and 2nd grade teachers escorted their students to each station, the kitchen staff ordered the snacks, and Principal Coulter, all played a vital role in the success of the afternoon. Mr. Ptacek, Marshall Elementary PE teacher, and Mrs. Westerman, Marshall Elementary Librarian, planned the readings and activities.
