🌊 Anchors Aweigh, Marshall!
2nd & 3rd Grade Set Sail for the Stage
February 25, 2026
On February 19, 2026, our Marshall Elementary 2nd and 3rd Graders hopped on the bus and headed to Butler County Community College for a live theater performance of Suzette Who Sets Out to Sea — and what an adventure it was!
The play swept us away to a seaside village where tradition ruled the shore: men built boats, and women most certainly did not. But Suzette, a brave and determined young girl, believed she was meant for something greater than a life on land. She longed to be on the sea and felt called to follow a destiny beyond the limits placed before her.
When the men in her village fail to return from their sea voyage, Suzette must do the bravest thing of all — step forward, rally the women, and lead a mission to find the missing sailors. Through determination, courage, and a whole lot of heart, she reminds us that sometimes the biggest waves lead to the greatest journeys.
Our students were fantastic audience members — attentive, respectful, and fully engaged from the opening moment to the final bow. They represented Marshall Elementary beautifully!
Experiences like this remind us that learning doesn’t just happen inside classroom walls. When students experience live theater, they see how literature, storytelling, music, and art weave together to create something powerful and lasting.
We are so grateful for opportunities that expand our students’ horizons and inspire them to dream big!
