5th Graders Tour Greenwood County

October 20, 2025

5th Graders Tour Greenwood County!

Our fifth graders recently enjoyed a fun field trip exploring the beauty and history of Greenwood County. We began our journey at Teter Rock, where we learned about its local legend and took in the stunning panoramic views of the Flint Hills and wild horses. As we drove through the rolling landscape, we stopped in Madison and Virgil, discovering more about our local communities and their role in Kansas history. Along the way, we learned about cattle ranching, the crops that grow in our area, and fascinating facts about the Tallgrass Prairie ecosystem. We learned most importantly that we are all involved in agriculture!

We ended our day at Rocky Ford, where students relaxed, laughed, and even practiced skipping rocks across the water. Surrounded by sunshine and wide-open skies, we all agreed how pretty amazing it is to live in such a unique and beautiful place. Our field trip helped us see just how special our home of Greenwood County truly is!
