What is Schoolwide Title?

What is Schoolwide Title?

Marshall Elementary operates under a Schoolwide Title I Plan. Within this plan, Title I is not limited to serving just a targeted number of students with their academic learning, but rather any student who has demonstrated a need based on data collection throughout the school year.

Title I funds are used to improve academic achievement in reading and math. Title I funds are used to hire paraprofessionals, provide high quality curriculum, and enhance parent involvement. Extended learning time for students who need extra help includes: Breakfast Club (before school 3rd-6th), TEAM (after school 3rd-6th), and Summer School (K-5th). These opportunities are sponsored by Title funds. Each grade level also has a Family Fun Night to promote family engagement.

Within our Marshall Elementary Schoolwide Title plan, teachers have incorporated a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) process. Teachers work together to target individual student needs as they arise through daily intervention time. However, for some students, intervention time within the classroom setting is not enough. Title teachers are then able to provide further intervention time and support students in very small groups in order to meet them at their instructional or skill level. All with the goal of assisting and supporting their current grade level curriculum.

If your child works with the Title teachers, you have seen the progress monitoring reports we send home on a regular basis. Progress monitoring in math and/or reading helps us to evaluate your child’s progress toward his/her individual goal(s).
