Inuit Writing

Third grade has had a busy nine weeks! We have been working on a variety of writing projects this year, and most recently, we wrote informative writing paragraphs about the Inuit tribe of the Arctic region. We began by sharing a fiction story about the Inuits, followed by a nonfiction text that gave factual information about how they live in the cold, Arctic region. The students went through the entire writing process, beginning with a brainstorming activity. After that, they created a web of their ideas, then a rough draft and finally a final draft that included what types of homes they live in, as well as their clothing and what they eat to survive. They did a really nice job with their writing projects and learned a lot about the culture of others who live in a very different environment from where we are here in Kansas.
