5th Grade Eclipse

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and the sun. On Monday, April 8th, our Marshall 5th graders were able to witness this amazing experience. All week, students have been learning about the eclipse and doing fun activities leading up to the big day.

With the next solar eclipse not happening until 2044, many in North America felt the need to catch a glimpse. While an average of two solar eclipses happens every year, a particular spot-on Earth is only in the path of totality every 375 years on average. Making this event all the more exciting! Americans showed up in record numbers. Ms. Stephens and Mrs. Thatcher’s 5th graders were part of the over 30 million.
