Early Education & Preschool Entering the New Year

January 10, 2024

We enjoyed time together with classroom parties and special treats from La Taqueria B and B and #KindLikeKenlee before we left for Christmas break. Students were excited to return to be reunited with their friends and teachers. In returning, each student created a snowman for the "snowman hallway" by coloring it and attaching a picture of their face. Students created a snowflake for our hallway by tearing blue paper into small pieces and gluing them onto a snowflake template. Tearing paper helps young students work on many essential skills such as hand strength, hand-eye coordination, precision, and refined movements. Students also worked on their cutting skills by cutting apart paper snowman number puzzles and gluing them onto construction paper, putting them on display in our hallway as well.

Our letter of the week this week is letter "Ll". Students have been learning many different words that begin with the letter, as well as participating in many different activities involving it's recognition and sound. We recently started a letter of the week table for our centers rotation which has several different activities for students to participate in pertaining to the letter of the week, such as building the letter out of playdoh, building the letter on a lite bright, writing the letter on different items such as a whiteboard, chalkboard, or magnetic board, as well as in sand, letter puzzles, letter sound clip charts, etc. Students have had a blast at this center all while learning more about the letter of the week.

Students are looking forward to the fun activities we have planned for upcoming Kansas Day to learn more about the great state we live in, as well as the 100th day of school and the fun activities we have planned for that as well.
