Scavenger Hunt
April 12, 2018
Students undoubtedly spend too much time sitting at desks during school. Once in a while they need to get up and move around. In algebra today, instead of a worksheet at their desk, the students did a scavenger hunt. Sixteen problems were hidden in the classroom. Students could start anywhere in the room. Once they solved the problem, they had to find the answer elsewhere in the room and solve the new problem that was paired with that answer. If they were accurate, after solving all sixteen problems, they ended where they began. This is a fun way to practice math with immediate feedback. Naturally, there was some good-natured competition.
