April in First Grade

Read & Romp

We had so much fun at our Read and Romp! We had 11 stations to go to and at each one we listened to a story and had a fun activity to follow. A big shout out to all that helped make our Read and Romp successful. We had a great time!

Botanical Garden

April 23 we will be going on our First grade class field trip to the Botanical Garden to learn all about "Bugs and their habitats". This is a great learning experience for our students. We are looking forward to our trip.

Money, Money, Money we have been covering money! Our students have enjoyed counting their coins. We have worked on many different money activities that help these children learn how to count their change. We have counted like amounts and mixed amounts of money. They encourage each other and are eager to count money, just ask them to help you count your change they will be happy to.

Our students are also enjoying their reading time. Our Reading Street series has great stories we are currently on our last reading book in our curriculum series. We are working on Compare and Contrast. Students will compare and contrast two different stories. They will find things that are alike in each story and also find the differences in each story. We have also worked on Interrogative sentences and Imperative sentences. Students are able to recognize an Interrogative sentence which asks a direct question and an imperative sentence which is a command sentence. Our students also enjoy their independent reading time as well. Reading is fun!
