Working...
The first month of school has been an exciting time for the 5th grade students in Ms. Stephens’ class as they settle into new routines and embrace the challenges of a fresh academic year. After a long summer break, students have quickly adjusted to the structure of daily schedules, classroom expectations, and the rhythm of learning. The 5th grade teachers have created a warm and welcoming environment filled with colorful decorations, cozy reading corners, and engaging activities that make students feel right at home. In reading, students are diving into their first novel study, exploring character traits and making predictions, while math lessons focus on place value and problem-solving strategies. Science has sparked curiosity with hands-on experiments about planets and energy, and social studies discussions are helping students connect with the world around them. Beyond academics, 5th-grade teachers are emphasizing teamwork, kindness, and responsibility through morning meetings, classroom jobs, and collaborative projects that build a strong sense of community. Students are also encouraged to express themselves creatively through writing, art, and presentations, helping them grow in confidence and communication. With such a strong start, our 5th graders are well on their way to a successful and memorable school year.
