Coach McKee Semester 1 Wrap Up

December 07, 2023

The first semester of our 2023 - 2024 school year has been full of new adventures & plenty of new memories.

While our High School Football season did not go as desired I truly believe we laid a foundation to build off of for future seasons. Again I'd like to thank the Senior class for everything they have given to the program, they will be missed next year but we hope to see a few of them at some games. I also wanted to celebrate our award winners from the season, Wylee Boulanger received Second Team All District Returner, All District Honorable Mention Defensive Back & was a Grasslands All Star Second Team Defensive Back. Cole Adkins received All District Honorable Mention Wide Receiver. Kalim Mouer received First Team All League Linebacker, All League Honorable Mention Running Back, All District First Team Unanimous Linebacker & a Grasslands All Star First Team Linebacker. Laken Valentine received All League Honorable Mention Defensive Back, All District Second Team Defensive Back & was a Grasslands All Start First Team Defensive Back. Jace Hardenbrook received All District Second Team Offensive Line & was a Grasslands All Star Second Team Offensive Linemen. TJ Mills received All District Second Team Wide Receiver & was a Grasslands All Star Second Team Wide Receiver. Gauge Lopez also received All League Honorable Mention Defensive Line, All District Second Team Defensive Line & was a Grassland All Star Second Team Defensive Linemen. With all but two of these great young men returning for next year we are very excited to see what can be built upon for next year.

In the classroom the World History class has worked it's way from Ancient Greece & Rome through the Industrial Revolution setting us up to start WWI when we will get back from Winter Break. The students have grown in their critical thinking skills, improved their writing of short essays & have had the opportunity to do individual research projects. While our Government classes students have created their own class governments & even had elections to put people into positions such as class President, their judges to rule over a court case in the class. The students have also improved their individual research abilities & time management preparing them for college or the work force.

I am happy to say our numbers at after school strength & speed training have been steadily around 20 kids per day. It has been a real joy to work with our young student athletes & prepare them for their journeys in athletics. The young kids have been quick learners that are eager to improve their abilities while the older kids have been great mentors & leaders for the young kids in the weight room. I look forward to continuing this after school program through the winter & seeing how much progress our kids make.
